Last updated: April 6, 2026
Overview
Lovebox Voice Messages ("the Service") is a private, family-use messaging service that lets family and friends send voice messages to a physical Lovebox device via SMS/MMS or a web app. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Data We Collect
Phone number — provided automatically when you send an SMS/MMS message to the Service number.
Sender name — stored when the device owner associates your phone number with a name.
Audio recordings — voice messages you send are stored as audio files.
Message metadata — timestamp, playback status, and storage path for each message.
How We Use Your Data
To receive, transcode, store, and play your voice messages on the Lovebox device.
To display your name on the device's e-ink screen when your message plays.
To manage the message queue (played / unplayed status).
Data Sharing
We do not sell, share, or disclose your personal information or audio recordings to any third parties for marketing or any other commercial purpose. Your data is used solely to operate this private messaging service.
Infrastructure providers (Google Cloud, Twilio) process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies but are not permitted to use your data for any purpose other than providing the underlying technical services.
Data Retention
Messages and associated data are retained for the personal enjoyment of the device owner. You may request deletion of your messages and phone number at any time by contacting us (see Contact below).
Security
All data is stored in Google Cloud (Firestore and Cloud Storage) with access restricted to the service backend. Audio files are not publicly accessible.
